The UK Antimicrobial Registry (UKAR) Study is being run from the University of Aberdeen to look at the effectiveness and safety of new antimicrobial medications which are used to stop the growth of micro-organisms that can cause disease. These medications are a vital part of modern medicine and include antibiotics (which target bacteria), antivirals (targeting viruses), and antifungals (targeting fungal infections). The UKAR Study will help us look how widely these medicines are used across the UK, why they are being prescribed, and how effective they are.
